Altus Power Management interconnects another solar system in Maryland
Old Greenwich, CT — November 8, 2011 — Altus Power Management announced today the completion and interconnection of a 127-kW solar photovoltaic system at DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. DeMatha, is utilizing the roof of its convocation center as well as its main building for the solar system. Affordable Solar Works, LLC installed the array with Ken Richardson III, a DeMatha alumnus, leading the project.
The 552 solar panels began producing energy when the system became operational around noon today. The system will ultimately generate about 146,050 kilowatt-hours annually, which DeMatha will receive at a price substantially discounted from the rate it normally pays to the utility. Not only will the system be a financial boon for DeMatha, but it will also help the school become a much greener institution. Altus estimates that every year, the array will offset CO2 emissions equivalent to burning 12,417 gallons of gasoline.
Members of Altus visited DeMatha for an opening ceremony today and met with several dignitaries including Mayor Marc Tartaro, DeMatha Principal Dr. Daniel McMahon, Pepco President Thomas Graham, and Maryland state representative Anne Healey, among others.
