If you’re moving to a new home, don’t forget to add “Altus Power Community Solar subscription” to your packing list. Yes, Community Solar subscribers who are relocating can often transfer their subscription if they let Altus know of their upcoming move.
To keep saving with Community Solar, your new home must be in a zip code and utility zone serviced by Altus Power. We currently have Community Solar projects across multiple states and utility companies, so chances are good there’s a Community Solar project nearby.
If you’re anything like most movers, you won’t be going too far the next time you relocate. Research shows Americans who move tend to move to some place nearby. According to a LendingTree analysis of 2022 U.S. Census data, 54% survey respondents moved to a new home in the same county, while another 25% moved to a home in the same state. Only one of five survey respondents had moved out of state.
Transferring your Community Solar subscription is simple. All you have to do is fill out this form with your first and last name and the email address associated with your current Community Solar account. Select “I’m moving” in the dropdown and the state to which you’re relocating. If Altus Power has a Community Solar project nearby and we can transfer your account, a Customer Experience agent will be in touch to begin the process. If your account can’t be transferred, we will initiate the cancellation of your subscription.
If you don’t want to transfer your Community Solar subscription to your new home, please be sure to let us know you are moving anyway so we can cancel your solar savings before you close your utility account.
If you do decide to transfer your subscription, all the usual eligibility criteria apply. For example, you have to have an electricity bill in your name, you can’t be enrolled in another Community Solar program, and you can’t have solar panels on your roof.

And, of course, you’ll continue to see guaranteed solar savings of 5-20% depending on your location without any long-term contracts, upfront costs, or utility changes.
